Breast augmentation is a procedure that gives fuller volume to small breasts. It does more than increase size — it can also resolve concerns such as asymmetry between the two breasts or dissatisfaction with breast shape.

For straightforward breast augmentation, most patients go home the same day; depending on whether you have a desk job or a field job, expect to return to work around day 3 to 7. Wound care and treatment take place at week 1, and post-operative laser care is provided in 5 sessions.

Inframammary incision
An incision of about 3–4 cm is made in the fold under the breast, giving a wide surgical view and easy pocket creation for the implant. It is the incision I use most often, and I frequently use it for complex revisions and surgeries requiring extensive correction.
Transaxillary incision
An endoscopic technique performed through an incision of about 3–4 cm in an armpit crease. Over time the scar blends in as an armpit fold, but recovery tends to take longer. Arm movement may be slightly uncomfortable right after surgery.
Periareolar incision
This method makes an incision of about 2cm around the darker-pigmented areola, making pocket creation easier and allowing relatively free arm movement. As it is known to carry an increased risk of capsular contracture, we use it only in limited revision cases.
Inframammary incision

This technique places the implant beneath the mammary gland, between the fascia and the muscle. It is my preferred approach because it causes less pain, allows faster recovery, and feels natural to the touch. If the skin is very thin, a hybrid technique that covers the implant with fat grafting may be needed.
Dual plane placement
The lower portion of the chest muscle is divided and the implant is inserted so that it sits under the pectoralis major in the upper breast and under the mammary tissue in the lower breast. It was widely used in the past, but nowadays it is used only in limited cases where the skin is very thin.
Submuscular placement
The implant is placed under the chest muscle, in a separate pocket from the mammary tissue — suitable when skin and breast tissue are scarce. This method is rarely used nowadays.
