Diagnosis of Breast Mass
Diagnosis of breast masses
Results are reported as normal; benign; probably benign with short-term follow-up recommended; biopsy recommended; or high suspicion of malignancy. If a lesion is likely benign, follow-up in 6 months to 1 year is advised; if malignancy is possible, a biopsy is performed using a Mammotome or similar device. Ultrasound findings are a clinical impression — the definitive diagnosis comes from a biopsy.
