Motiva Breast Augmentation Reviews: Capsular Contracture? Let's Check the Data from an International Journal.
Hello. We are U&U Plastic Surgery, the clinic that used the most Motiva implants last year.

Before writing this article, I had written a post for those having their first surgery with Motiva.
Based on a study of a total of 4784 patients, I summarized the outcomes of Motiva breast augmentation.
If you are currently considering your first surgery, please check the article below.

Today's article is written for those having revision surgery with Motiva.
Among the reasons for revision surgery, the most common is 'capsular contracture.'
However, once capsular contracture has occurred, there is a high chance it will recur after revision surgery.
That is why patients facing revision surgery cannot help but worry that the same complication might happen again.
For those patients, I would like to show the outcomes of patients who actually had capsular contracture and underwent revision surgery with Motiva.

About 10 years ago, our breast surgeons appeared on the TV program 'Let Me In'
The content below is based on data published in the international journal Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
It is that trustworthy, so I strongly recommend you read it through.
Motiva breast augmentation reviews:
capsular contracture?
Let's check the research data
from an international journal.

Capsular contracture is classified into 4 grades depending on severity.
Up to grade 2, it can be improved without surgery, but from grades 3-4, the changes in shape and feel are pronounced enough that revision surgery is performed.
The participants in the study below were also patients with grade 3-4 capsular contracture.

A total of 51 patients participated in this study.
For these 51 patients, the surgery proceeded as follows.
- Removal of the existing implant and the hardened capsule (the cause of capsular contracture)
- Insertion of a new Motiva implant (Motiva Ergonomix).
After surgery, the patients' outcomes were observed for a minimum of 1 year and up to 9 years.
Among them, capsular contracture reappeared in 1 out of 51 patients. (* Capsular contracture recurrence rate: 1.96%)
You said the study you showed
had 51 participants,
but judging from only 51 cases,
isn't that too few to speak about
the safety of Motiva?

Some of you may be thinking along these lines.
That's true. In terms of study size alone, 51 is on the small side.
However, studies that select only patients with grade 3-4 capsular contracture and follow them long-term are quite rare.
This is because, in practice, when capsular contracture occurs it is often resolved at grades 1-2, or the implant is simply removed altogether.
For reference, the study was conducted over a period of about 10 years.
Given that, observing the outcomes of the operated patients for 1 to 9 years cannot be considered meaningless.

Some of you may want to confirm Motiva's safety further through the experiences of more people.
For those readers, I am attaching the columns below.
As they were also written based on Motiva-related research findings, I recommend reading them as well.

That is everything I have prepared regarding Motiva breast augmentation reviews.
Finally, let me close this article with one word of caution.
The result of breast augmentation
is not determined by the implant type alone.
Source
- Where the implant is positioned within the breast
- Where the incision is made when inserting the implant, and so on..
Factors like these also help determine the feel, the shape, and more.
Here is a summary of what to discuss during a consultation at a clinic.
