While researching breast augmentation,

I came across something called Preservé.

They say it damages less tissue, so recovery is faster,

and it can even be done under local anesthesia.

Is that true?

The reason Motiva Preservé aims for a shorter recovery is that the pocket is dissected so as to reduce tissue damage during surgery.

In conventional breast augmentation, blood vessels / muscles / ligaments were dissected with an electrocautery device during surgery.

Motiva Preservé uses a 'balloon' to create the space where the implant will be placed.

As you can see, the balloon expands inside the breast.

In other words, the balloon inflates and pushes the tissue aside, creating the space for the implant.

Of course, that does not mean tissue damage during surgery becomes completely 'zero'.

Dissection is performed with the aim of preserving surrounding tissue without cutting muscle, but the usual side effects of surgery - bleeding / inflammation - can still occur.

Still, compared with conventional breast augmentation, you can think of it as a tissue-preserving approach that aims to shorten the recovery period.

That is a completely understandable concern.

As mentioned earlier, conventional dissection passes through muscle, small blood vessels and nerves during surgery. That is why general anesthesia was necessary.

But when a balloon pushes the tissue aside, the tissue is not torn or scraped.

Because the method aims to reduce damage to blood vessels and nerves, it can also be done under local anesthesia or IV sedation.

The surgical technique used in Preservé breast augmentation is in fact an upgraded version of the long-used 'dual plane' technique.

Also, using a balloon to create the pocket is a surgical method that has been in use for a very long time.

Preservé has already been performed in Europe for several years.

It is understandable to be cautious about a newer technique, so we go through its risks and the published data with you in consultation.

Motiva Preservé breast augmentation is not currently performed at every plastic surgery clinic in Korea.

Moreover, in Korea the surgery has only been performed since the first half of this year, so there may be fewer reviews compared with conventional breast augmentation.
