2. The staffing ratio of plastic surgeons

to anesthesiologists

Breast augmentation is mostly performed under general anesthesia. So the operating room usually holds both a plastic surgeon and an anesthesiologist.

Anesthesia is not simply a matter of injecting anesthetic drugs in the operating room.

- pre-operative tests (blood tests / ECG / radiology)

- intra-operative vitals (heart rate / blood pressure / oxygen saturation)

- post-operative recovery monitoring, and so on..

Monitoring happens alongside the patient throughout all of these stages.

Having 2-3 anesthesiologists managing the surgeries will be safer than 1 anesthesiologist managing them all.

So we also recommend checking whether an anesthesiologist can be dedicated 1:1 to each patient.
