You probably already know that same-day discharge is possible after breast augmentation.
But since every care visit means arranging time and transportation, the decision cannot be easy.
For those living overseas who would have to fly in each time, the dilemma must be even greater.
So, as a clinic that performed over 3000 breast augmentation procedures last year, we would like to give you the following information about post-surgery care.

First, let us go over how often you need to visit the clinic after surgery.
In our case, we usually guide patients to about 5 post-surgery visits.
We sometimes suggest a visit on day 1-2 after surgery to check the wound. But if there are no particular problems at that point, you do not have to come.
However, you must visit at week 1 and week 3 after surgery.
At those visits we review your progress and guide you through wearing the compression garments and the upper band.
Later, at 3 months and 6 months after surgery, visits are needed for scar care and to check breast shape.
At the 3-month mark in particular, we perform an implant checkup by ultrasound, because this is when the capsule forms around the implant.
The ultrasound checkup confirms that the newly formed capsule is not progressing toward complications such as capsular contracture.
At the 1-year mark after surgery, we perform breast cancer screening along with the implant checkup.
You will be screened for breast cancer and breast disease together with the board-certified breast surgeon on staff.

In short, if you are coming from out of town, expect 2-3 visits within the first month from your surgery date.
I get the scar and inflammation care,

Aftercare following breast surgery
Getting your implants checked works in your favor.
In particular, quite a few breast augmentation complications progress quietly, without symptoms.
Capsular contracture and implant rupture, in fact, often progress with no early symptoms at all.
So rather than skipping regular checkups, consider saving time by choosing a plastic surgery clinic that can handle implant screening in-house as well.
