Let us start with the cost of a breast lift.
Depending on whether implants are used and which type, prices are generally around 10 million KRW. (* Based on list prices)
Some of you may wonder: do I really need an implant?
That is likely because of concerns about an unnatural feel, or the risk of carrying two implants for the rest of your life.
On the other hand, there are also reasons people shy away from a breast lift (breast ptosis correction).

The main reasons are the surgical burden and the scarring.
Compared to implant surgery, a breast lift requires more extensive incisions.
Because the operation is far more complex — nipple repositioning, reshaping the breast, and more — it also leaves larger scars. Risks such as reduced sensation are greater as well.
The recovery period also takes considerably longer than implant surgery.
Saying the breasts are sagging means the nipple sits around the inframammary fold — or even below it.
This, in turn, means the upper breast lacks that much volume.
In this situation, implant surgery fills in the upper-breast volume, helping the breasts look more natural.
So let us look at the cases where implants alone can improve sagging.
Earlier, we described sagging breasts in terms of the position of the nipple relative to the inframammary fold.

A nipple positioned about 4-5 cm above the inframammary fold is generally considered within the normal range.
Based on this standard, when the nipple sits lower than normal, it is called mid sagging.

When the nipple sits at the level of the inframammary fold, it is called moderate. ( * Moderate sagging )
And when the nipple has dropped below the fold, it falls under severe. ( * Very severe sagging )
Of these, cases classified as mid sagging / moderate can be improved to a certain degree with implants alone.
For very severe sagging, a breast lift (ptosis correction) may be added on top of the implants.

Imagine a rubber balloon that has lost its air.
If you hold a deflated, wrinkled balloon in your mouth, it droops downward.
But what happens when you blow air into it while still holding it in your mouth?
As air flows in, the wrinkled balloon inflates and rises above the mouth holding it.
You can think of this same principle as applying to a breast with an implant.
A balloon fills with air,
so it can puff up and rise like that,
but for breasts,
there's also the weight of the implant —
even if they lift at first,
won't gravity make them
sag even more later..?

That is correct.
That is why, if the sagging is severe, it can be difficult to improve with implants alone.
Sagging that is not severe means the ligament tissue supporting the breast has not yet given way.
In other words, the breast can still bear the weight of an implant, so further sagging caused by the implant can be prevented.
However, if the sagging is severe and the ligament tissue supporting the breast volume has given way, sagging can worsen after surgery. That is why a separate corrective procedure becomes necessary.
For this reason, it is all the more important to consult with a skilled surgeon and find the surgical plan that is right for you.
