Which option applies depends on how severe the sagging currently is.
The degree of sagging is assessed by the position of the nipple relative to the inframammary fold.
The current normal range is as follows.
: the nipple sits 4-5 cm above the inframammary fold.
The further the nipple sits below this reference, the more severe the sagging is considered to be.
Sagging that can be improved with implants alone is sagging in which the nipple has descended no further than the level of the inframammary fold.
If the sagging is severe enough that the nipple sits below the fold, a corrective lift is needed in addition to implants.
