Choosing a Breast Surgery Hospital? 2 Cautions Before You Decide — Written by the Clinic That Used the Most Motiva Implants Last Year
Hello — we are U&U Plastic Surgery, born of 20 years of breast surgery research.

About 10 years ago, our breast surgeons appeared on the TV program 'Let Me In'

In shortlisting clinics so far, you have probably relied mostly on reviews — Gangnam Unni, the Yeouya cafe, and the like.
You have likely also mapped out what to discuss in consultation, based on reviews from people whose body type most resembles yours.
For 2 years in the past, we ran a Q&A on breast augmentation in mom-community forums.

Through that ongoing exchange with people researching breast augmentation online, we came to see certain things that everyone should check when evaluating a breast surgery hospital.
On that basis, today we present 2 criteria for choosing a breast surgery hospital.
This advice comes from 20 years of research devoted to breast surgery, so please be sure to read it.
1. Does it have thousands of cases
of breast surgery clinical experience?
Source
In consultations, we sometimes meet patients who are mistaken about even their own cup size.
At the same time, we hear things like:
'I never knew my breasts were asymmetric.'
Source
'I knew my breasts were uneven,
but I didn't know the bones themselves differed in size.'
Source
- the width and depth of the ribcage
- rib structure
- asymmetry of the inframammary fold
- breast tissue thickness, and so on
These factors are hard for patients to notice in daily life, yet they are also the factors that decide the outcome of breast surgery.
That is why, when criteria you had not considered come up mid-consultation, deciding on surgery can suddenly feel difficult.

In fact, even for two women who are both A cups, the surgical plan can change completely depending on ribcage structure, rib shape, and tissue thickness.
Breast augmentation is not merely a matter of picking an implant — the result also depends on how well the anatomical conditions are analyzed.
So we recommend consulting at a hospital that has accumulated thousands of clinical cases.

2. Is the hospital dedicated
solely to 'breast surgery'?

Breast surgery — augmentation in particular — is mostly performed under 'general anesthesia.'
Before entering surgery, patients are also screened for possible breast disease.
To summarize, the following 4 tests are essential before surgery:
- blood tests
- ECG and chest X-ray
- breast examination (e.g. ultrasound)
- other assessments (muscle thickness or chest wall shape)
But not every breast surgery clinic is equipped with all of this testing equipment.
In some cases, you consult at the clinic but must get the other tests done at a different hospital.
- the medical staff who perform the tests
- and the medical staff who review the results
and decide on surgery
end up not being the same people —
they sit in different hospitals.

Breast augmentation places an implant (a foreign body) beneath the fascia or muscle. It carries higher risk than other cosmetic surgery.
All the more reason to choose a hospital that can walk through every step of breast surgery with you — anesthesia, breast disease screening, and all.
