Where to Get Breast Surgery Done Well? Don't Be Fooled by Years of Experience (Advice from 20 Years of Research)
Hello — we are U&U Plastic Surgery, the clinic that used the most Motiva implants in 2024.

This article was not written simply to promote our clinic.
We write it for those traveling long distances — from other regions or overseas — in the hope that your effort will not be wasted.
In any case, we keep to a principle of 3 surgeries / 6 consultations per surgeon per day.
It does not have to be us — we simply hope you end up with a plastic surgery clinic you can trust.
For reference: breast augmentation is mostly performed under general anesthesia, and the implant goes as deep as the muscle layer of your chest.
It is a relatively riskier surgery than facial or other procedures, so please do not choose a clinic on a few lines of advertising copy alone.
Below, we explain the criteria by which to judge where breast surgery is done well.
We hope what follows helps you toward a safe surgery.

1. Don't be fooled by years of experience.

Suppose there are two surgeons, each with 20 years of experience.
a: 20 years researching breast surgery only
b: 20 years at a clinic handling both breasts and faces
Which surgeon would perform breast augmentation better?
Naturally, surgeon a.
True, b operates on faces too, so b may have logged more surgeries over the same 20 years.
But a good breast augmentation result does not come simply from handling a scalpel well in the operating room.

In planning breast surgery, the point where doctors' opinions diverge most is 'implant size.'
- When the same A-cup woman comes in, one doctor says a 300cc implant; another says up to 350cc is possible.
This difference comes down to differing judgment about the patient's tissue quality.
Choosing an implant suited to the thickness and elasticity of the existing breast tissue is a judgment honed by experience.
In other words, the assessment of a doctor who has focused on breast surgery will inevitably differ from that of one who has split their time between faces and breasts.

Unlike the face, the breast is an area substantially influenced by hormones.
Breasts change during menstruation — and after pregnancy and childbirth, their shape can become entirely different from before.
So look at years of experience, but be sure to check whether the clinic has focused primarily on breast surgery.

2. Anesthesia testing / breast disease screening —
can every process related to the surgery
be handled in-house?
Source
Breast augmentation is not something a plastic surgeon can carry out alone.
A board-certified anesthesiologist is needed for general anesthesia, and a breast surgeon's assessment is needed for breast screening before and after surgery.
Where this infrastructure is missing, anesthesia and breast tests are often done at another hospital, with only the surgery performed at the plastic surgery clinic.
Anesthesia monitoring is safest when it happens not only 'before' and 'during' surgery, but 'after' it as well.
And how often would a breast surgeon at a general hospital have actually cared for someone about to undergo breast augmentation?
Even after breast augmentation,
mammography — which compresses the breast — and Mammotome procedures — which puncture it — must still be performed for the sake of breast health.
So for a safe surgery, and for your life after breast augmentation, check whether the clinic has anesthesiologists and a breast surgeon in-house.
