Breast Augmentation Reviews: A Letter to Those Looking Only for Reviews from People with Similar Conditions <Advice from 20 Years of Research Experience>
Someone who seemed a lot like me
got a perfectly lovely result with 300cc,
could that work for me too?
Looking at the reviews,
I wonder if only the good ones ever get posted..
So it's hard to bring myself to decide on surgery

Body type / existing breast size / age, and so on.. I am writing this for those of you looking for reviews from people whose situation is as close to yours as possible.
In truth, the factors that determine the direction of a breast augmentation are not fully reflected in reviews.
That is because there are factors — such as skin quality or rib cage asymmetry — that patients themselves are not even aware of.
In other words, no matter how similar the person who wrote a review may be, there is no guarantee your surgical result will turn out like theirs.
Still, as a patient, you have no choice but to picture your future self based on reviews.
So I would like to show you how to read reviews using the criteria we actually apply in clinical practice.
If you keep them in mind, they will help you articulate what you want to look like when you come in for a consultation.
This is written from 20 years of research experience, so please pay close attention.

Filter them more finely with the criteria below.

1. The implant's position inside the breast
Source
Where an implant sits inside the breast is divided by reference to the pectoralis major (the chest muscle).
- Whether it sits above the chest muscle
- Whether it sits below the chest muscle
This is also a factor that determines how visible the implant is from the outside and how it feels to the touch.
If the implant is covered by muscle, it is less likely to show through than when it is not, right?
So to place the implant above the muscle, you need a certain amount of skin thickness.

Regarding implant position, the methods most commonly used today are subfascial and dual plane.
We covered this in detail in the columns below, so if these terms are new to you, please have a look.

2. The incision method.
Source
In the process of placing an implant into the breast, you also have to choose where to make the incision.
Two methods are most commonly used today.
- Placing the implant into the breast through the armpit
- Placing the implant into the breast through the inframammary fold
Depending on the method, the scar location, the implant size that can be inserted, and more will differ.
We covered this in detail in the columns below, so if these terms are new to you, please have a look.

So far we have covered two criteria: implant position and incision method.
Beyond these, there is one more criterion to look at: 'implant type'.
Since implant types already come up often in various communities and reviews, I did not include them separately.
Still, for those unfamiliar with implant types, I am attaching the post below.

Breast augmentation reviews
Over the past 2 years, we ran a Q&A on breast surgery in mom-community forums.
We answered questions not only about breast surgery side effects, but also from those weighing important life stages such as childbirth and pregnancy.

Today, U&U Plastic Surgery keeps to a rule of 3 surgeries and 6 consultations per surgeon per day.
Since we cannot help everyone in person, we share a selection of our Q&A content online.
